Interview

THE ROCK: Who is Ms. Hollis; tell us something about you?
Hollis: Vanessa Hollis is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I recently relocated from Austin, TX to Atlanta,
Georgia. I am in the process of completing my
Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from
Kaplan University. A self-published author and founder
of Teardrops Publishing, had my debut novel 'Love in
my Teardrops' released in June 2005 with her second
book ‘When my Tears Cry’ soon to follow in late June
2006. I am in the process of working on my third book
‘Tears of Katrina,’ scheduled to be released sometime
this year.

THE ROCK: Where are you from and currently residing?
Hollis: I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma and currently reside
in Atlanta, GA.

THE ROCK: Could you give us your job title and a short
description of your responsibilities??
Hollis: I'm currently an author of
fiction/drama/romance novels, but will soon venture
into mystery. I'm the CEO and founder of Teardrops
Publishing. My company provides the opportunity for
other aspiring writers to get a jump start on their
dreams of becoming a published author.

THE ROCK: How long have you been doing this type of work?
Hollis: I started my company back in August of 2003.

THE ROCK: Are you experiencing job fulfillment, and
what type of gratification do you get at the end of the day?
Hollis: The fulfillment and gratification came back in
2005 when I sold my first novel, and it has never
left.

THE ROCK: What college did you attend, and what was
your major?
Hollis: Kaplan University. I majored in Business
Management.

THE ROCK: What are some of your personal achievements?
Hollis: Raising my son safely, buying real estate,
leaving my nest egg and discovering who Vanessa is...
and finally, but certainly not least, marrying the man
of my dreams.

THE ROCK: What are some of your professional
achievements?
Hollis: Having enough faith in myself to start
something that was bigger than myself at the time,
Teardrops Publishing, and completing my first novel,
"Love In My Teardrops".

THE ROCK: What books do you recommend for
self-enhancement?
Hollis: I don't have any particular book to recommend,
other than it being very realistic and not just a lot
of copy and pasting from
others... something that they actually experienced and
can tesitfy to.

THE ROCK: Who are some of your personal heroes and/or
heroines?
Hollis: I only have one true hero, and that's the man
above. With Him in my life, I feel I can get up from
my injuries and start again until it's pleasing in His
sight.

THE ROCK: What career goals did you set for yourself?
Hollis: To one day have my own prosperous company and
be self-sufficiant and giving.

THE ROCK: What were your parents like, when it came to
education and choosing a career?
Hollis: Finishing high school was the end of the line
for my parents; you didn't have time to or wasn't
motivated back then to continue your education, but to
work and help out around the house. However, they both
ended up with really wonderful and meaningful careers.

THE ROCK: For an author, is having a publishing
contract with a "traditional publisher" important
professionally? Why?
Hollis: It all depends on what you want from your
business. Do you want to be in full control or do you
wish to share a bigger percentage of your wealth.
Having a traditional publisher has its pros and cons
as anything else; you just have to know what works for
you. Are you willing to do all the work yourself or
were you looking for someone else to do it for you at
a fee with a lot of resources readily
available?

THE ROCK: What are some of your professional achievements?
Hollis: Deans honor roll twice with Kaplan University.
Every now and again, I look at my certificates and
become humble.

THE ROCK: Who are some of your favorite authors?
Hollis: I've met a lot of authors and have many of
them as my friends. I don't have a favorite author,
but many good colleagues who have found their thing
that they weremeant to do in life.

THE ROCK: What are your goals in five years?
Hollis: Hanging out with my grandchildren and making
my husband's breakfast every morning with no major
worries in life.

THE ROCK: Well done, Ms. Hollis. Where can our readers
find you?
Hollis: www.vanessahollis.com or .net
www.teardropspublishing.net or .com

PO Box 920561
Norcross, GA 30010

Hollis: Thank you for the opportunity to come into your world.
