ROCK: Who
is David Ellerbee; tell us something about you?
Ellerbee: I am a 44-year
old stay-at-home dad, father of 2... ages 5 and 8.
THE
ROCK:
Where are you from and currently residing?
Ellerbee:
I am from Baltimore, Maryland on the west-side of the
city. I relocated to the county of York, PA.

THE
ROCK:
Could you give us your job title and a short description
of your responsibilities?
Ellerbee:
My current job title is Tae Kwon Do instructor for the
Baltimore County Parks and Rec.,Owings Mills Recreation
Council. It is an affordable, non-profit program for
all.
THE
ROCK:
How long have you been doing this type of work?
Ellerbee:
I've been teaching Taekwondo for over 20 years but with
the
Owings Mills Rec Council at New Town Elementary School
for over six years.
THE
ROCK:
Are you experiencing job fulfillment, and what type
of gratification do you get at the end of the day?
Ellerbee:
My gratification is that I am able to offer a fun, productive,
exciting and affordable program for everyone in the
community. The best part for me is that the kids are
having fun as well as knowing that I am providing a
service that will enhance their lives forever.
THE
ROCK:
What college(s) did you attend, and what was your major?
Ellerbee:
I did not attend college, but I did attend a technical
school under UMBC. My major was computer repair.

THE
ROCK:
What are some of your personal achievements?
Ellerbee:
Other then having a wonderful family with a loving wife
and two beautiful kids, my crowning moment was being
a crew member aboard the sailing ship "Pride Of
Baltimore 2" when it had it's maiden European World
Tour in 1990. I sailed to 19 countries and 27 cities
promoting the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland
for business and tourism. It was life-altering experience
and a chance of a lifetime.

ROCK:
What are some of your professional achievements?
Ellerbee:
I've worked for an International Airline here in Maryland,
which has given me many chances to travel around the
world. I located to Iceland for a brief time to learn
about the company in detail from a European position.

ROCK:
What books do you recommend for self-enhancement?
Ellerbee:
The Bible.
THE
ROCK:
Who are some of your personal heroes and/or heroines?
Ellerbee:
My mother rest in peace, my sisters, my wife, and all
of the civil rights leaders of the past and present.
THE
ROCK:
What career goals did you set for yourself?
Ellerbee:
To have a loving family.
THE
ROCK:
What were your parents like when it came to education
and choosing a career?
Ellerbee:
My mother was a single parent. She always helped us
understand that it was up to us as her children to take
control of our own lives, learn as much as you can,
and choose a career that would help others.
THE
ROCK:
Any family members with a college degree, and what are
they doing today?
Ellerbee:
My sisters both have degrees. They are not working in
their fields of profession, but they are both in civil
service.
THE
ROCK:
Did you play sports growing up, and were you a leader
as a child?
Ellerbee:
I was the only person in my neighborhood, who raced
sailboats. I was a junior sailor competitor in Baltimore
and Annapolis. Later on, I picked up Tae Kwon Do and
was one of the top three competitors in the state four
times in my weight class. I competed in the National
Tae kwon do Championships four times. When it came to
sports, I always wanted to lead. In sailboat racing,
I was the captain of the boats 90 percent of the time.
I hated being the crew. I wanted to make the decisions
when racing.

ROCK:
Do you consider yourself a leader?
Ellerbee:
Sometimes I do.
THE
ROCK:
Tell us about your career field, and what is so interesting
about it?
Ellerbee:
Most of my life, I've always wanted to deal with people...
teaching them or in customer service. It's easy for
me to deal with people.
THE
ROCK:
If you had to do something else for a living, what would
it be?
Ellerbee:
Fly a plane or be an oceanographer.
THE
ROCK:
If you could be anybody else in the world, who would
it be? Why?
Ellerbee:
No, I would like to only be myself.
THE
ROCK:
If you were the President of the United States, how
would you handle some of the world crisis that we are
presently involved in?
Ellerbee:
Talk to our enemies. Listen to the Third World countries.
THE
ROCK:
What advice would you give students entering college?
Ellerbee:
Learn all you can. Don't forget about the rest of the
world.
THE
ROCK:
If you were a keynote speaker for a high school graduating
class, what would be your subject matter?
Ellerbee:
Respect each other. Take hold of your faith. Listen
and try to understand the world problems.
THE
ROCK:
